1. Lower the set temperature of your electric heaters. You can lower the temperature of your thermostats by a few degrees during the reduction phase, which is from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. for a morning challenge and from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. for an evening challenge.
2. Let Hilo control your charging station! Don’t touch it during a challenge. If power is restored to a charging station during a challenge, it is automatically excluded from that challenge.
3. Schedule shower time outside of challenge hours so that you can avoid using hot water during a challenge.
4. Avoid using household appliances. When calculating your rewards, we take into account your home’s total energy consumption during a challenge. So wait until after the challenge to bake up that batch of muffins! Same goes for doing the laundry or running the dishwasher.
